United Community Bank History

The United Community Bank was originally chartered in 1911. The first headquarters office was located in Bertha, Minnesota, and then the company moved to Perham in 1934.

The Frazee office was opened in 1995. A third office was opened in the Dean’s Country Market store in May 2007. The bank celebrated its first century of service in 2011.

The Perham headquarters occupies a building that was originally constructed in 1897.

Another privately-owned bank, known as The Bank of Perham, was owned by a resident named Dorothy Ryan. By 1908, the bank was state-chartered as The State Bank of Perham.

The bank became insolvent during the Great Depression in 1932.

In 1934, the Farmers State Bank moved from Bertha, Minnesota to Perham, Minnesota and changed its name again to become Perham State Bank, and in 1977, the bank became known as United Community Bank.

United Community Bank believes that offering a full range of financial services, including auto insurance, helps to grow the bank’s assets and reputation.
