Good2Go Auto Insurance Rates

Good2Go prides itself on having the lowest rates.

Cheap doesn’t always mean the best insurance. Cheap usually means state minimum limits. What are those? States have minimum coverage limits required on vehicles driven on roadways.

Minimum means the cheapest, but we suggest getting more coverage, especially depending on your circumstances. If you’re driving a luxury car, you want to carry enough coverage to repair your car if it’s damaged in an accident.

We have data from the top 10 companies in all 50 states from our friends at Quadrant. Showing you the rates of the top 10 major companies will show how your Good2Go quote compares.

We will also look at some factors that companies use to rate you as a driver, like coverage levels and driving record. Rating a driver simply means to use the information provided to assess the risk to provide an appropriate premium.

That still means the other 44 states Good2Go writes in can rate based on gender. Below is a chart of the top 10 insurance companies and how they rate based on gender.

Good2Go Coverage

Good2Go prides itself in offering auto insurance at an affordable price, but how can they keep rates so low?

Most companies offer bundling options, discounts, and incentive programs to help customers keep rates affordable. In this next section, we’re going to look at different options Good2Go offers clients to keep rates low.

Good2Go’s Bundling Options

Larger insurance companies offer bundling options for clients. This means when a client has multiple lines of business—for instance, home and car—they can bundle their policies and offer a lower rate for the bundle.

Good2Go only specializes in auto insurance. They do offer a homeowner discount that we’ll cover in the next section, but they can’t offer coverage for any line of business other than auto.

Good2Go’s Discounts

We all like a good discount, right? Discounts mean more money in your pocket. Let’s take a look at both driver and policy discounts Good2Go offers its policyholders.

Driver Discounts

Being a good driver can usually land you a discount with most companies. Good2Go offers the following discounts for drivers:

  • Defensive driving course discounts – Average discount: 5-15 percent
  • Good driver discounts – Average discount: 10-35 percent
  • Student driver discounts – Average discount: 5-20 percent
  • Cell phone safety – Average discount: 5 percent

Cell phone safety is a new program being offered by Good2Go. We will cover the program in the next section, but enrolling in this option can save you 5 percent on your car insurance premium.

Good2Go’s Policy Discounts

You can also get discounts based on your policy. Good2Go doesn’t offer coverage for other lines of business, but they do offer a discount for being a homeowner.

They also offer other incentives, such as paying in full and renewing discounts. Below is a full list of policy discounts offered.

  • Homeownership discounts
  • Multi-vehicle discounts
  • Paid-in-full discounts
  • Renewal discounts

Policy discounts can give you anywhere from a 3-25 percent discount on your premium. If you’re looking for the cheapest rate (which most people are), always check out the discounts a company offers.

Good2Go’s Vehicle Discounts

You can also get discounts just for the features included in your car. Here are two discounts Good2Go offers for vehicles.

  • Airbag and passive restraint discounts
  • Anti-theft system and VIN etching discounts

These discounts can save drivers up to 5 percent on their insurance rate.

Good2Go’s Programs

Good2Go has designed a new program to help drivers stay focused on the road. All drivers are eligible to enroll in the program. You must download the Lifesaver app on your cellular device. This app is free for all policyholders.

Once driving, your phone detects movement and will display a notification to keep eyes on the road while in motion. This feature can be turned off if you’re a passenger or in an emergency by using the passenger unlock feature.

Good2Go Ratings by Agency

The financial strength of a company is very important when looking for an insurance company. You may want cheap rates, but you want it from a solid company that can have your back if you need it.

We are going to dig into the financial status of Good2Go.

Good2Go Insurance Agency operates under several business names. The National Associations of Insurance Commissioners lists the following companies as doing business under the Good2Go brand.

Good2Go A.M. Best

We’re not off to a good start looking into Good2Go’s financial status with A.M. Best. A.M. Best is a worldwide rating company that focuses primarily on the insurance industry. Sadly, the companies associated with Good2Go listed above withdrew from the A.M. Best rating in 2017.

At the time of the withdrawal, Good2Go companies had a C+ rating. A rating of C+ is a marginal rating, and we often suggest finding companies with a higher rating to ensure a strong financial standing.

Good2Go Better Business Bureau

The Better Business Bureau is a great source of information for consumers. The BBB helps consumers find businesses that use ethical, trustworthy business practices.

We took a look at one Good2Go Insurance location out of Atlanta and found that the BBB gives Good2Go an A rating. While the Better Business Bureau gives Good2Go am A rating, customers leave less than stellar reviews. Out of 39 reviews, the average star rating was one star.

Good2Go S&P Rating

Standard & Poor is a global rating agency using research and financial criteria to rate businesses in more than 28 countries across the world.

S&P no longer rates Good2Go companies. While they may not rate them, S&P does have concerns regarding Good2Go company and American Independent Insurance Company. S&P noted a $40.4 million net loss in 2016 alone.

So why is all this financial information important?

The financial strength of your insurance company can mean many things. The most important thing to a consumer is when it comes to paying out claims.

You pay premiums every month, and then the dreaded claims occur. You totaled your car or someone else’s car. You want to be sure your insurance company can replace the totaled car and get you or someone else back on the road again. If your company is in financial distress, you could have a hard time getting your claim resolved.

Good2Go’s History

Good2Go’s company history is minimal and a little confusing at best. American Independent Insurance Company formed more than 25 years ago, and Good2Go, along with other companies, formed under this parent company.

Other than a start date, there isn’t much information regarding the history of the company. Let’s take a look at Good 2Go’s employees and what the future looks like for the company.

Good2Go’s Position for the Future

Good2Go doesn’t have the best financial ratings. They are hard to find and almost non-existent. That can worry some policyholders and tend to make for a less-than-stellar future for a company.

Good2Go does pride itself on being a niche company for high-risk drivers. Unfortunately, there always seems to be high-risk drivers needing insurance.

So, while their future may not be bright, they do have some good selling points that may help them stick around a little longer.

Good2Go’s Online Presence

Good2Go pushes all contact to be through email, mail, or phone. Their online presence is heavy with an almost non-existent brick and mortar location.

Good2Go can quote and sell policies all through the internet. You can find them on the below online outlets:

  • Website
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Youtube

Good2Go’s Commercials

We can think of the commercials of all the major players in the insurance industry. They grab our attention and do exactly what they are supposed to do – make us remember the brand they are selling.

We all know Flo and Jamie for the funny commercials Progressive produces, and Mayhem with Allstate is a personal favorite.

What does kind of commercials does Good2Go Insurance produce? This commercial shows a dad with a gift for his daughter. They relate to parents and tight budgets.

Again, they play on the heartstrings of parents and wallets.

Good2Go in the Community

Good2Go does not have a heavy community presence if one at all. Some larger, well-established insurance companies have the revenue to spend on community events and outreach programs. Good2Go either does not have the programs or chooses not to advertise them.

Good2Go’s Employees

Employees can make or break a company, but it could be a sign of something worse if employees aren’t happy. There will always be a few employees that can’t be satisfied with raises, incentives, or bonuses. If you have an overall unhappy workplace, the problems more than likely run a lot deeper than a few bad apples.

We took a look at Indeed.com, which is a search engine for job listings and company reviews. The results are not promising for Good2Go.

State Farm took the number one spot for four straight years.

Good2Go Loss Ratio

Loss ratio is an important number that is often overlooked or not understood.

The loss ratio takes a look at how much premiums are being made versus how much is being paid out for claims. For instance, if a company writes $100,000 in premium and pays out $60,000 in claims, its loss ratio is 60 percent.

The higher a loss ratio, the more money is going out the door in claims. While this may sound like a good thing to an insured motorist, a loss ratio of more than 100 percent means the company is not making money. A lower loss ratio means the company doesn’t pay claims, something no customer wants to hear.

Pros and Cons

With any insurance company, there will be pros and cons.

Pros for Good2Go:

  • Offers SR-22 filing for high-risk drivers
  • Numerous discount options
  • Easy online quoting

Cons for Good2Go:

  • Minimal financial strength rating
  • Only offers auto insurance with no other lines of business

The Bottom Line

So, what’s the bottom line?

Good2Go is a great insurance company for drivers that may have a harder time finding insurance. For drivers that want minimal limits required by the state or may require SR-22 insurance, Good2Go is a low-cost, easy company to get insurance.

There is some concern with financial ratings. Insurance may be legally required, but if you need to file a claim you want to know that your company will have your back.

When you file a claim, you want a company to be able to get you back on the road as soon as possible. A company in financial distress may have a harder time closing your claim.

FAQs

Finally, let’s take a look at some commonly asked questions.

What Are Good2Go Auto Insurance’s Payment Options?

Good2Go offers customers three payment options to fit their needs.

The economy plan allows you to pay your annual premium throughout the year. To start your policy, you must pay your down payment. Following that payment, you can have installment payments every month.

Good2Go also offers a quarterly payment. Every four months an installment is due. You can also opt for the annual payment. One payment and you’re done for the year.

What is an SR-22 filing?

Good2Go is great for drivers needing to file SR-22. In some cases, high-risk drivers are mandated to file SR-22. This is not a form of insurance. Your company, like Good2Go, will file with the state showing you have the minimum required liability limits.

How Do I Get Instant Proof of Insurance?

All drivers will need to keep proof of insurance in their car. If you’re pulled over or asked by a police officer, you must show proof of coverage.

Once you’ve accepted the quote from Good2Go, you’ll receive instant proof of insurance by email or fax.

What Happens If I Buy or Sell a Car?

As with any changes, you should always inform your insurance company immediately to make the change. You’ll need to provide the company with new car information such as make, model, and VIN.
