What coverages are offered by U.S. Agencies Direct Auto Insurance?
According to the Insurance Information Institute, all states have minimum requirements for auto insurance unique to their state. The minimum requirement for auto insurance in Alabama and Louisiana is bodily injury liability and property damage liability, which are part of liability auto insurance.
So, what is liability auto insurance? Liability pays for damage you cause to others.
Bodily injury and property coverage limits are represented by something called a coverage rule.
A coverage rule is a way to show your coverage limits for liability coverage.
For example, a coverage limit of 50/100/500 means $50,000 for bodily injury of one person per accident, $100,000 for bodily injury of multiple people per accident, and $50,000 for property damage per accident.
The following table details the minimum required coverage rules of Alabama and Louisiana.
States | Minimum Auto Insurance Coverage Requirements | Coverage Rules |
---|---|---|
Alabama | BI & PD Liab | 25/50/25 |
Louisiana | BI & PD Liab | 15/30/25 |

Both states are similar in minimum requirements, but they vary in bodily injury. Regardless, you need liability auto insurance to drive in either state.
Liability is one of three basic coverages for auto insurance. The three basic coverages you should be able to get from most companies are liability, collision, and comprehensive.
Auto insurance companies break down each basic coverage so you can choose which coverage you want. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) produced a report that shows average annual rates of each coverage. Let’s take a look at the average rates for Alabama and Louisiana.
Auto Insurance Coverage Type | Alabama Average Annual Rates | Louisiana Annual Average Rates |
---|---|---|
Liability Coverage | $417 | $814 |
Collision Coverage | $323 | $421 |
Comprehensive Coverage | $158 | $217 |
Full Coverage | $740 | $1,235 |
Get Your Rates Quote Now |
As you can see, Louisiana’s average liability coverage is more expensive than Alabama’s. Collision and comprehensive auto insurance coverage are much cheaper, but this may also depend on the vehicle you drive. The higher your vehicle’s value, the more you could pay for auto insurance.
What about full coverage?
Full coverage means you have collision and comprehensive coverage attached to your auto insurance policy.
If you just bought a new car, you will need full coverage, which is represented on the right in the table above. If you were to break those down to a 12-month policy, you could pay $62 per month for full coverage in Alabama and $102 per month in Louisiana. These coverage rates are different based on the information you give U.S. Agencies Direct auto insurance agents.

Good Driver Discount
Auto insurance companies factor in your driving record when determining your rates. If you have a clean record, you can save over $450 with a good driver discount. Here are some average annual rates based on driving records.
Driving Record | Average Annual Auto Insurance Rates |

Clean driving records help provide cheap auto insurance. You can receive up to 20 percent off your policy if you have a good driving record. If you have traffic violations or accidents on your record, you may want to see what other discounts are available in order to cut costs.
Student Discounts
Young drivers typically pay more for coverage, as their inexperience makes them at-risk for potential accidents. The following table shows the average annual auto insurance rates by age.
Driver's Age | Average Annual Rates |
---|---|
60-year-old driver | $2,275 |
35-year-old driver | $2,447 |
25-year-old driver | $3,207 |
21-year-old driver | $4,453 |
17-year-old driver | $8,293 |
Get Your Rates Quote Now |
Drivers under the age of 21 pay up to $3,800 more for auto insurance, while drivers 25 and older pay about $5,000 less.
One of the ways to curb higher rates for young drivers is through student discounts, which carry a 10 to 15 percent reduction from the insurance total. Combined with other discounts, this could save you a lot of money on your policy.
What programs are available from U.S. Agencies Direct?
U.S. Agencies Direct doesn’t list accident forgiveness or usage-based insurance on their website, but they have a few programs for their customers such as Roadside Assistance, Windshield Repair, Telemedicine, Hospital Indemnity, and AD&D.
Roadside Assistance may come with liability or full coverage auto insurance policy. This ensures that you can have your car towed to your residence or auto repair shop. It can also provide help if your car battery needs a jump.
Windshield Repair is a program often combined with comprehensive coverage. Depending on state law, you could have zero deductible.
Telemedicine, Hospital Indemnity, and AD&D are all programs not directly related to auto insurance. Telemedicine provides medical treatment over the phone or the internet, Hospital Indemnity reimburses you after paying medical costs, and AD&D pays for accidental death.
These programs work similarly to personal injury protection (PIP) and medical payments (MedPay).
Although it’s not directly related to auto insurance, enrolling in these programs can help you prepare for the unexpected.

Do you get a refund if you cancel auto insurance?

US Agencies offers low-cost insurance, but for a reason. Their claims process is horrible. The adjusters are rude, disrespectful, and work according to their own time and at their own discretion.
I have been with this company for 3 years and have filed 4 different claims with 4 different adjusters and each time, I was talked to rudely and with no respect. The claim process took over 2 weeks to have my vehicle sent to the repair shop, then they were slow to pay the repair shop which had my car sitting there for another week.
They denied me a rental car even though it is covered in my policy. The only reason I have stayed with this company is because of the low monthly payment, which really isn’t that low, but considering that I have a newer car, I kept the coverage. NOT ANYMORE, I would prefer to pay higher costs for better service.
My advice to anyone looking for cheap car insurance would be “don’t be cheap, you’ll get what you pay for”. US Agencies is a terrible insurance company or better yet, they have some rude, unprofessional people working for them in Baton Rouge. I will be switching to another company.

I would never have my insurance with this company. Their adjusters are not reliable to do what they promise. A promise to call you by “the end of the day” means nothing. And they try to make it seem like it’s your fault. It’s been one reason after another
my car was hit Aug 21,2012. It took over a month for them to finally decide the liability was theirs Now because the shop took a few days longer than anticipated he tries to make it my fault Because I chose the shop.
Originally the coverage was to be go-auto because the vehicle that hit me was covered with them. In two days time, they sent my car to their shop for appraisal. When it was discovered that the driver had his own insurance-u.S. Agencies- they passed it on. Us agencies agreed to accept the estimate and photos from go auto.
Well, they had to wait on the police report, then investigate whether they should accept liability, then they found some other issue. Finally, in October, they said I could get my car to the shop. It took the shop four or five days longer than originally estimated. Now,they have to investigate and decide if they can pay the rental for those days.
I wish I had used my insurance to take care of this and avoided this aggravation. The adjuster needs to be trained in customer relations because after this I would recommend anybody except them.

I love the relationship I have with my local branch office in Laplace. I have learned the claims department exhibits some of the most unethical practices that I have found to be above shocking for adults to conduct themselves in the manner that they have on my property settlement that is going on since December 15, 2012, of last year.
NOTE we are at only a 5,000 dollar difference. I have been tossed around to four different U.S.Agency employees that all had conflicting policy procedures on how they conduct a simple claim. What hurt me is how they treated me. I found gross errors in the methodology used in compiling my settlement. It has still not settled and it seems like they have the attitude that.
You had full coverage on your truck and you found gross errors in the manner we compiled your payoff, and now they are pushing me off and not responding to me. I am begging them to please complete my claim. I am disabled with a spinal cord injury and can be live U S AGENCIES is conducting themselves in this unjust manner.
If someone in management sees this….. could you please step in and complete my claim. It is only 5,000 that we are apart to Finnish this. David j. Becnel

I have absolutely NOTHING & I REPEAT NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!! positive to say about this TRASHY WASTE of a “company”. They have no idea what it means to be held responsible for anything, especially when their customers are at fault for an accident.
They OFFER the INNOCENT PARTY 100% NO SYMPATHY, NO UNDERSTANDING, NO RESPECT, NO PROMPT SETTLEMENT, NO RELIEVING OF STRESS, NO EXPEDITION OF RIGHTFULLY DUE MONEY, NO SATISFACTION WHAT SO EVER when dealing with them for a claim!!!!
Absolutely RIDICULOUS….WILL NEVER GO WITH THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY BUSINESS OF BEING THEIR CLIENT…THEN AGAIN, THAT MIGHT BE THE ONLY REASON TO GO WITH THEM BECAUSE I WILL SAVE MONEY IF AT FAULT LIKE THE CLIENT THAT CAUSED ME TO HAVE A CLAIM WITH THIS EMBARRASSMENT OF AN INSURANCE COMPANY.
THEY ARE ONLY GOOD TO SCREW THE INNOCENT PARTY LEFT & RIGHT!!!! OTHER COMPANIES ARE MORE PROFESSIONAL AND PLEASANT TO WORK WITH BY MILESTONES…WOULD NOT BE SHOCKED OR SADDENED IF THIS COMPANY AND THEIR INCOMPETENTLY “TRAINED” ADJUSTERS WENT OUT OF BUSINESS…
I KNOW I WILL TELL ANYONE THAT LISTENS TO LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR AUTO INSURANCE AND TO TREAT THESE “PEOPLE” 100% THE WAY THEY TREAT YOU…THEY CLAIM TO UNDERSTAND & IN REALITY, HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT MEANS TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE PAYCHECK THEY SEE FROM SUCH A HORRID JOB AT A HORRIBLE ENTITY!
ONLY RECEIVED 1 STAR BECAUSE A RATING WAS REQUIRED…THAT IS IT…SHOULD BE A HUGE (-) RATING THOUGH IF THAT WAS AN OPTION…BEST OF LUCK TO ANY OTHER UNFORTUNATE PEOPLE HAVING TO SUFFER DEALING WITH THIS “COMPANY”.

OMG….I don’t know where to start with this company, I have never had such a horrible experience with an insurance Co. like I have with this one!!!
TERRIBLE, they lie, cheat, and very unprofessional no clue about customers skills, and on top of it, they try to make you feel that u are at fault.
recently I renew my policy and a month later I got a letter saying that I was receiving a military discount!! had no clue where they got that from, cause as far I know I never been in the military, and they wanted to go higher in notes.
I call many times and I got the round and round excuse, even Heather, who is suppose to be the district manager didn’t have the courtesy to call me and give an explanation.
absolutely HORRIBLE. if you are thinking about getting insurance with this company I will advise you to shop around.

Run if u can.
I don’t know where to began either, 6 months. ago I couldn’t receive my discounts because I did not have the letter with the quote # on it so, I was charged $60 more than the quote stated. Last week I remembered the quote # and they still wanted to charge me $80 more and I hadn’t had any accidents or tickets since I’ve been with this company (18months).
I was shopping at Macy’s I parked in the garage where there are cameras, but when I returned to my car it had been hit. I called to report it to them with the police report # and 2 days later I was told by the claims dept. that since I didn’t have a license plate #i could not get my car fixed through my uninsured motorists policy and I had to ask Macys for the video myself .
I canceled my policy with them last week and I was told it would take 6 weeks to receive my refund . I hope. this can help someone from making the same mistake.

I can’t give them any star. They sold me a policy with fixed payments for 6 months and suddenly they decided to raise my quote without any notice. Now I lost my money and time doing business with them.
Where do I begin!!!! This company is HORRIBLE!!!
Our car caught on fire and was totaled, we called US Agencies to report the claim, finally got through after constantly trying, gave the statement and we were told to wait to be contacted by the adjuster, he never contacted us we had to contact him.
we were given the run around we were refused a rental missed 2 weeks of work because we had no way to get around, every time we spoke with the adjuster or anyone in the claims dept. they were extremely RUDE!!! They tried to make it seem like everything was our fault and did not support us in any way during this time of loss we had to come out of our pocket for the fire report and the notary couldn’t make it to Dr. appts..
The whole entire time all the adjuster did was lie he said he needed the last place the car was serviced to get accurate mileage and when he called and they gave it to him he didn’t even use their information he put how much mileage he wanted and tried to say all kinds of things were wrong with the car to bring down the value . The last adjuster we spoke with called and gave us the price we would be paid for the car and said we had no choice we had to accept that.
My suggestion to anyone looking for cheap car insurance is keep looking run away don’t stop here!! They don’t have a problem collecting premiums every month, just make sure that you don’t get into any type of accident that you have to report a claim with them!!! They are horrible a bunch of liars and not to be trusted!!!~~~

They get NO STARS.
My mother got into a wreck with a driver covered by US Agencies. The other driver was at fault. Here we are, three days later, and the adjuster just assessed her vehicle this morning and declared it a total loss. He tells us to call the “rental car people” at US Agencies, and they tell us that they will not pay for a rental car because they “haven’t heard from the other driver yet.”
I can’t even deal with this nonsense. I got into a wreck with someone covered by Progressive and had a rental car within three hours.
This is the worst insurance company ever ! Don’t waste your money here ! They are unprofessional and never want to pay for anything ! I will never again .

Had an accident June 25, 2014, and no one came to look at my car until October 3. A check was issued and received October 10 but they took out the deductible twice. Another check was issued and received mid-October and the car was brought to a shop.
Today is December 1 and the car is still in the shop and has been ready to be picked up for a month. There were more repairs and the car had to be looked at and approved. Another check was issued for the remaining amount and they took the DEDUCTIBLE OUT AGAIN!!!!!
Now a check for the deductible has to be issued the adjuster was rude. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told none were available, and then hung up on me when I was asking when the check would be sent out.
When my policy needs to be renewed I would rather pay double than deal with U.S. Agencies again. I have also reported them to the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner but have not had a response to date. I am about to report them again…as soon as I get that check for my deductible.

I purchased a full coverage insurance policy on a 2006 Chevy truck. The truck was stolen by an ex-girlfriend with over $3,000 worth of tools in it. I filed a police report, she was arrested and plead guilty. The truck was never recovered.
The insurance company has stalled the claim for a year. I had to get a lawyer, my ex wrote a statement saying she took the truck, they still refuses to pay this ins. The company does not stand behind their policy. Bad business

I have been trying to contact a claims representative for 2 months. I was in a wreck with someone who has insurance with US Agencies. The wreck was completely not my fault and the other driver took fault. I can not even get ahold of the agent to report my side of the story. It is absolutely ridiculous.
They are sitting on the case and not even sending it to an investigation after a certain period of time which is illegal! I do not know how they are still in business. I am having to deal with them even though they are not even my insurance company!

The company sucks. The representatives are rude and they keep you on hold on the phone forever. The cheap insurance is not worth it.
I went to drop insurance on one of my vehicles they charged me 15 dollars to drop the insurance I had been with them for 12 years and I’m thinking about changing companies they tell me I can’t get my money back it’s going to take 35 to 40 days and they going to add it to my other insurance for my other vehicles and my payment did not go down.
I’m very upset with this company, they are quick to take your money but don’t want to pay you back. it’s a scam

I would not even give them a 1 star!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! RUN THE OTHER WAY! They are horrible
I signed in Feb. I paid my premium for April and they misapplied my payment. I had to go thru the run around to get that taken care of. Then in May they sent me a letter telling me they were raising my premium 203.00 because I did not have a form signed. I went into the office to find out what happened and was told the scanner was down and they had to mail in the paperwork.
So all the customers were being hit with this because they refused to go. The office equipment and the paperwork were supposed to be uploaded in Two days. In May, they were going to credit me 143.00 but I had to pay the higher premium first then when they credited me the $$$ they credited it to the 573.09 and not the 355.00.
The lower premium is NOT WORTH THE HASSLE AND LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I filed a claim with the insurance commissioner. They also Flagged my license for lack of payment and having an insurance lapse. I have been trying to get that taken care of for a week!!!! Nothing yet!!!!
The consumer pays for everything including their broken office equipment!! They take no responsibility across the board and hide behind bogus policies! I even had one guy tell me he could not transfer me to another representative after being on the phone with someone for an hour trying to fix an issue!!!!DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!

One star is an overstatement!!!! They are horrible!
In April they misapplied my payment and cancelled my insurance from 4/27- 5/5 and of course reported to the DMV THAT I HAD A LAPSE IN INSURANCE so now both me and my husband have a flag on our license and I asked them a week ago to go in and recall the cancellation still nothing!!! They also increased my premium in the middle of my policy because their scanner was broke and they did not receive my signed and dated refusal for u insured motorist coverage.
However when I called after receiving the letter I was told that the form was there and that I would be credited the money. The following month the increase is still there and I’m told I have to pay it and they will refund me. I pay it and they apply the refund to the increased Policy. They never adjusted the premium and basically said I had coverage and had to pay it.
So, in a nutshell, I’m paying for their broken down office equipment and nobody is responsible but me!!!! Customer Service is horrible and you can not count on them to hand anything!
One of their own agents told me not to waste my money and go to State Farm so you know it is bad when their agents are telling you not to waste your time!!! I also filed a claim with the insurance commissioner!!! They need to be put out of business!!! The lower premium is not worth the hassle!!!

They are a rip-off. The quote they gave me six months ago, I only paid for two months. When questioned why I was told to go talk to an agent who did paperwork. She explained it was some papers that I did not sign when I asked her how come, didn’t she know what papers I needed to sign.
She stated my payment will go back to what was quoted in 48 days. When I spoke to a supervisor who stated I did sigh papers, she was looking at them. She stated that the agent just didn’t call it in.
She (Supervisor) informed me she was going to make the call and see if they will agree that I pay what was quoted or the over payments will be added to my last note. I asked her why do I have to pay for a mistake their incompetent, lazy agent made. Tried to contact her back for weeks, left many messages. Finally, I realized she was dishonest also.
Made last payment today and I mean last. No way will I renew. Rating them 1 star is too high.

Very rude, unprofessional, and tacky. I dealt with US Agency Rep Lakesha Greer in the Opelika, Al. office and it has been and still is a hot mess. When I came to my senses and was able to focus and think about the policy she offered, I emailed her immediately and told her that I wasn’t gonna sign the policy paperwork she had just sent me. She didn’t respond. I was confused because she had just emailed me for the 2nd time asking me if I signed and sent the papers back.
So, I called and the voice msg said she went home for the day. After, when she finally responded, she said she would get back with me. 4 days passed and she still refused to contact me. So I went into a local branch. They supposedly got her on the phone, and canceled the plan and said I would receive my deposit back in 5 to 7 days. 3 weeks I still didn’t get my money and I received a bill saying I owed late fees and all.
I went back into the Local Office after calling there 1800 number talking with 3 different reps who was no help at all. The Local Branch said that the policy was not cancelled, and was on the phone asking someone if I could have a 0 balance and not owe?!? I told the Lady in the office that I came in here on the 8th because Lakesha would not call me back nor email me back, and someone in their office said to me that they cancelled that policy n sent a request to have my money returned. WHAT A HORROR.
So, the Lady said it would be 30 to 35 days b4 I would get my money back. SMH Where is justice n righteousness? Where are the company’s values?

Horrible customer service and now charge $10 to take a photo of your car. This should be included with a customer purchasing insurance from the company!! WOW…. Only bad experiences since I started with this company!

I also had a payment misplaced and all my verification and documents to support it. They had cancelled my insurance for their mishap but reinstated back to when the payment was made.. sucks
