Understanding Toa Products

Reinsurance is a special type of insurance that is purchased by one insurance company from another insurance company. This type of process is called risk management.

By doing this, some of the financial risks of the insuring company is transferred to the reinsurance company.

The insurance company will pay the reinsurance company a premium known as a reinsurance premium and, in turn, the insurance company will be able to issue thousands of new insurance policies.

The two main types of reinsurance are facultative reinsurance and treaty reinsurance.

With facultative reinsurance, a company buys reinsurance for the individual risks that are not already covered in their current reinsurance policies. These reinsurance contracts are separately negotiated.

For treaty reinsurance, the insurance and reinsurance companies work out a blanket reinsurance contract that covers all of the insurance policies.
