Things to Remember...

  • NAU Country is a crop insurer for farmers
  • NAU Country does not offer auto insurance
  • NAU Country offers ways to help farmers be successful

NAU auto insurance doesn’t exist. Research for this auto insurance review found a company called NAU Country that acts as a crop insurer for farmers and nothing else.

It is one of the few companies that still specialize in products for the farming community.

NAU is not a car insurance company, and they do not sell any types of auto insurance coverage for individual drivers.

NAU was founded in 1981 by the Deal family. They were a driving force in the 1980s in government circles to help improve the financial security of farmers.

NAU Country Insurance and EASY Mapping

For farmers who join NAU, one of the benefits is a system called EASYmapping.

This is a computerized system that allows farmers to track how each portion of their land is doing including the ability to track pesticides used and when, how the crops responded to treatment and much, much more.

The purpose of this system is that it makes it much easier for customers to report claims when they have the details about each section of their farming area which ensures that claims are paid faster as well.

NAU Insurance Agents

NAU agents are agents that are hired directly by the company. Training is offered for their insurance agents in the different regions that they cover which includes:

  • Minnesota
  • Indiana
  • Kentucky
  • Iowa
  • Wisconsin
  • North Dakota
  • California
  • Montana
  • Kansas

You can apply to become an agent directly on the NSU website. However, they don’t share any of the information about their benefits that might be important to you.

In addition, there currently aren’t any agent positions open with the company.

NAU Insurance Claims

In order to file a claim with NAU, you must first call your agent and then fill out the claims form on their website.

NAU provides a document of what you should do if you experience a loss. According to their notice, you have to take steps to protect your crops from any additional damage.

You have 72 hours to report your damage to your agent. In addition, you will have to keep some of your damaged crops intact to ensure that the adjuster can observe the damage for him or herself.

The bottom line is that the damaged crops should not be destroyed until your adjuster gives you permission to do so. If you do destroy your crops, you may end up not getting paid.

NAU Insurance Quotes

NAU does not offer online quotes. In addition, there is no information on their website about how long it will take for you to receive a quote after you have filled out the basic insurance information forms.

An adjuster typically has to visit your farm and assess your crops, determine their value and determine your risk factors.

Your quote could take several days or even a couple of weeks so it is important to ensure that you carry your insurance from your old company so that your crops aren’t without coverage during the quote process.

Regardless, NAU doesn’t offer auto insurance of any kind, which means you will have to go to a different source to attend to your auto insurance needs.
