Commercial Alliance Insurance Company is a Texas-based casualty and property insurer and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mexico’s Seguros Comercial América, S.A. De C.V.

The company’s first foray into the U.S. insurance business came by way of a 1998 license to provide insurance products in Texas.

Meanwhile, the company continued to be an industry leader in offering non-traditional auto insurance in Mexico and certain parts of Latin America.

In 1999 Commercial Alliance began offering third-party auto insurance to Mexican drivers planning to travel in the U.S. Third-party insurance still remains a big part of the company’s business today.

Their U.S. operations have since expanded to include Alabama, California, Mississippi, and South Carolina. In addition to personal auto insurance, Commercial Alliance’s parent company also deals in commercial auto insurance as well as several other personal lines.

Commercial Alliance Agents and Locations

The Commercial Alliance website doesn’t provide very much information regarding the structure and operation of the company. However, it would appear as though they do utilize a network of local agents to sell and service their policies.

How extensive that network is at this time is hard to tell. But their website does contain a link to an application that interested agents can fill out and submit to the company for consideration.

It is assumed that agents approved to represent Commercial Alliance would need to undergo at least some basic training.

Large insurance companies like Commercial Alliance utilize local agents in order to streamline their business and reach more customers.

From the standpoint of consumers, this is advantageous to them, as local agents can compare policies from all the companies they represent in order to find the best one. Utilizing a local agent also allows a more personalized relationship between customer and insurance carrier.

All that said, Commercial Alliance doesn’t provide the names or addresses of local agents on its website. Nor do they provide an agent locator service, as some of their competitors do.

In order to find a local agent representing this company, you will probably have to contact them directly through their corporate office. In larger cities, you may find local agents by checking in your yellow page directory.

How do I get a quote from Commercial Alliance?

With some of the larger, nationally known auto insurance companies, you can get online quotes by either visiting their website or utilizing an overview site like you’re on right now.

Getting started with the quote process usually entails entering your zip code into a search tool which then returns the results available for your area.

You would then fill out more specific data in a form provided by the insurance company you’re interested in, which would then return the quote.

Unfortunately, Commercial Alliance does not offer a quote tool on its website. In order to get a quote from them, you would have to either contact them directly in Houston or find a local agent in your area who represents them.

As previously stated, you may find some success in this area by checking for local agents in your phone book.

Commercial Alliance Reviews

Corporate reviews of Commercial Alliance Insurance Company are mostly good in terms of the company’s financial stability and business practices.

A.M. Best, one of the more well-known financial services ratings companies, consistently gives Commercial Alliance high marks.

Their ratings indicate that Commercial Alliance is on solid financial ground with enough assets to meet both short and long-term obligations. The ratings also indicate that the company has a good future outlook.

As for individual customer reviews, there isn’t much to say about this company. With most auto insurance providers, consumers can find customer reviews and ratings simply by doing an Internet search on that company name.

Typical review sites will rate auto insurance providers based on several customer-oriented criteria. With rating systems between one and five, anything above a 3.5 is considered extremely good.

With Commercial Alliance, such reviews are virtually nonexistent. This may be due to the fact that the major thrust of their business is third-party insurance for Mexican drivers.

If so, the insurance they provide such drivers is only temporary and those customers would be unlikely to fill out online surveys. However, it could also be due to the possibility that Commercial Alliance simply doesn’t service very many auto insurance policies.
