Physical Damage Coverage for your Own Vehicle

If you have a loan or are concerned about paying for damage to your own car, you need to carry physical damage coverage. Ordinarily, a deductible is applied to this coverage.

Deductibles begin at $100 per accident and go up to $1,000 per accident. It might be a good idea to get several different quotes based upon different deductibles.

Comprehensive coverage covers damage caused by things other than a car accident such as theft, fire, vandalism, weather, falling objects, and animal damage.

Usually, glass coverage is included in this but a trend is growing to sell glass coverage separately. Examine your quote carefully to make sure glass is covered. Figure in the deductible as part of a claim.

Collision coverage pays for collision damage to your car no matter what causes the collision.

Less the deductible, of course. You may have to go to several different sites to obtain different quotations for auto insurance.

Click on the insurance company’s website and enter the information requested for each of the quotations you want. You do not have to purchase insurance even if you have a quotation.

Print out the quotes that you obtain from each company and carefully examine each one before you choose or change an insurance company.
