Many years ago someone stole my car. It was a 1988 Toyota Camry and I’d left it in a secured parking garage underneath my apartment building. The thief stole the car, filled the trunk with used clothing (the kind you’d find at a goodwill), and ended up parking it about 10 blocks away with most of the gas left in the tank. They also left a burrito wrapper from 7-11 on the floor. It wasn’t exactly the crime of the century.
I’m now the owner of a new car, and after doing a bit of research, I found that a new car is way less likely to be stolen than an old one. Newer locks, integrated security, and the resell value of older car parts are many of the reasons why your clunker is more likely to get GTA’d than your shiny new sedan.
